Viair 400P-Automatic Function Portable Compressor offers automatic function. The unit contains an onboard pressure switch that allows the unit to run until an internal pressure of 145 PSI is achieved at which point, the compressor will shut off. To start the compressor, attach to a tire valve stem and squeeze the trigger on the supplied gas station style inflation gun. Once air flows out of the unit, the compressor will restart. It can inflate up to a 35-inch tire from 0 to 30 PSI in less than 5 minutes. Air pressure can be monitored by releasing the trigger on the inflation gun, which will show current tire pressure.

Viair 20001 200 PSI Ultra Duty Onboard Air System This was a great purchase. It comes with everything you need to install. In my case it was installed in a 2010 Ford F-350 and I needed to go to Home Depot and pick up a couple of steel tubes to make if fit between the frame and passenger side of the bed. I had it up and running in about 2.5 hours. This model is a monster, it's all the system it says it is. Great buy!!!

I've had a 400P since around 2004 (could be longer). Its so old that the air filter isn't located in the same place as the newer ones. I use this compressor to service our car tires and those on my motorcycles. After six plus years, the 400P still works like a champ and pumps just as fast as it did when it was new. It has never done anything other than fill up anything I've hooked it up to - quickly.

I only had a chance to use it once so far. It's been really cold and I have had no desire to go out there and check the air pressure of my tires. The only time I used it, it worked fine. This is my 3rd air compressor for the car. The first one was stolen from my car, but it got me out of trouble a couple of times. That's why I decided to buy the second one. It's a Craftsman unit that doesn't work any good at all. So I went online and did some research and read a couple of reviews for different units and decided to go for this one. The only thing I don't like is that you loose some air from the tire when you try to unscrew the hose. You just have to put two extra PSI's.

UPDATE.

I got two of this pumps. The second one I didn't have to use until recently and it blew fuse in my car. I though it wasn't the unit and got a second fuse. I tried to use it again and it did the same thing. The first unit I have works fine. It looks like they are replacing the unit from the manufacturer.

March 14 FOLLOW UP REPORT: Pump found to stall and stop at 40 pounds pressure. Teresa K. Naeole of Q. Industries by phone said I could return pump and would be sent a more expensive tire pump in return. Returned pump was received at 159 Islington on February 16 at 12:55 pm. I have not received a new pump. I cannot get a response from telephone message requests at (303) 629 7700. Almost a month now. Yuk! Paul

I purchased the HV30 Portable Compressor because it promised rapid inflation of tires and blowup toys. The 140 pound pressure limit was certainly adequate. The price was right.

The Compressor comes with a hose that screws onto the compressor on one end and screws onto the tire valve stem on the other end. The compressor end thread was damaged. I had to use a pliers to tighten what should have been a hand tightened connection. Because the tire end screws on, air is lost as it is unscrewed after the tire is inflated. Most tire inflators come with a quick disconnect. Further, the compressor won't start against tire pressure if the connector hose is screwed on the tire valve. I had to start the compressor and then screw the hose onto the valve stem.

I haven't tried inflating a bike tire yet. I strongly suspect the air lost during unscrewing the connector hose will almost deflate the tire. This is just a great idea for inflating tires much faster than with pumps designed for much higher pressure limits but really poor engineering execution.

I regret that I cannot provide a positive review of this product. The compressor failed after 10 months of light use and closer observation revealed that extremely cheap metal was used for the piston linkgage. I had noted earlier that the performance was degraded and now after openeing the unit and seeing the metal fragments - I now know why. By design, the unit likely cannot hold up to regular usage. Moreover, there are no serviceble parts inside except the lead acid battery. In summation, this is a poorly built Chineese made product that should be avoided and removed from the US market.

My experience was similar to the other reviews. The connection doesn't fit and the battery is lead/acid (who would have thought?). To make things even worse, once you get the hose connected, the motor doesn't have enough power to inflate a car tire to 30 lbs.

Returning this thing cost me $9 in postage, plus a write down on the product itself because it was "opened". Save yourself a headache and get an electric unit.

Bought Viair 300 this Dec/09 and 2 weeks later a superflow MF 1089 for my son. I decided to compare the inflation pressure attained by each compressor at a run time of 90 seconds for each. Using my spare tire 245-45-18 deflated down to zero PSI.

My results: Viair 300 attained 32.5 PSI at 90 seconds.

MF-1089 attaine 35.5 PSI at 90 seconds.

Durability and reliability are different issues and only time and usage will tell. To me, they both look well made. Viair is a single compressor and MF-1089 is double.

Viair weighs about 8 Lbs & MF about 18 Lbs. Viair has standard quick connectors while MF.s is not. It.s their own but it's well made. MF 1089 has more versatilities with their tire chuck connectors and is priced less than Viair.

My personal preference: MF 1089.

Meh... The gauge itself seems to be off anywhere from 4-8 psi, at least when compared against a digital Accu gauge. I guess I'll have to compensate...

Others have complained abut the chuck on other vendor entries for this item and the problem is worth repeating here. The chuck often does not fit correctly on the nipple, resulting in a leak. Also, the chuck may be hard to attach depending on the shape of the rim.

Also, the hose that is provided is threaded on the non-chuck end and can be removed as the picture indicates, but the chuck itself is crimped on, so switching it out for an angled truck chuck or 90 degree chuck, for example, is not possible. PLUS, it seems that the thread may be metric, so good luck finding a coupler.

Likewise, the quick change adaptor that is prescrewed into the gun seems welded in, because I sure can't unscrew it. It works for my purposes, but may not for others.

Finally, I got blindsided by this vendor's shipping and "handling" costs. $14.81?!!? Others are selling this exact same device for a bit more but are charging less than half the price for shipping.

It gets 2 stars because it works, kind of, and is convenient, kind of. But I'm glad I didn't spend more on it, and technically could have spent less where it not for the inflated shipping cost (pardon the pun).

I purchased this system to replace a Siege Engineering air system that failed prematurely. I am very pleased with that fast fill times that are achieved by the 325C compressor and the much longer blow times for my train horns due to the larger air tank. The air chuck on the tank also makes it nice to fill my tires and power small air tools. I recommend this system without hesitation.
